Bamako – Douantza–Timbuktu – Desert au Festival –Dogon Country – Mopti - Djenne- Ségou-Bamako

 

 

Day 1: 10/01/12: Arrival to Bamako airport assistance and transfer to Hotel

 

Day 2: 11/01/12: Breakfast and depart for Douantza (a full day's drive through the heartland of Mali,) lunch in Mopti, Dinner and night in campement at Douentza.

Day 3: 12/01/12: Breakfast in Douentza, depart for the Festival au desert site, installation on the festival site in a traditional tuareg tents and lunch. Toward 1600 hrs ( 4 o'clock in the afternoon), official opening of the Festival.

Day 4: 13/01/12: Festival au desert (On the festival site enjoy the three days full of festivities: music, music, poetry, arts and crafts, camel races, meeting of civilizations and more! overnight camping at the festival site with Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner all the three festival days)

Day 5: 14/01/12: Festival au desert (On the festival site enjoy the three days full of festivities: music, music, poetry, arts and crafts, camel races, meeting of civilizations and more! overnight camping at the festival site with Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner all the three festival days).

Day 6: 15/01/12: Breakfast on the festival site and depart for Dogon country, stop for lunch in Douentza continuation to Sangha, Dinner and overnight (Guest house).

Day 7: 16/01/12: Breakfast in Sangha and drive to Djiguibombo for overnight (Guest house). Between Sangha and Djiguibombo Visit Dogon villages along the Dogon Country escarpment: Banani, Amani , Ireli (Lunch ) and Tireli, in where you will stop 2 or 3 hours to admire a traditional Dogon culture: mask dance; 11th century Telem houses, etc.

Day 8: 17/01/12: Breakfast in Djiguibombo, drive to Badiangara stop for lunch and continuation to Mopti overnight (hotel)

Day 9: 18/01/12: Breakfast and Mopti visit, lunch and drive to Djenne overnight (hotel)

Day 10: 19/01/12: Breakfast and Djenne visit, drive to San, lunch and continuation to Segou, overnight (hotel)

Day 11: 20/01/12: Breakfast and Segou visit, lunch and drive to Bamako overnight (hotel).

A visit of Bamako, according to the date of departure of each person.

The price of this tour includes:

* 4X4 (4-wheel drive) with driver + fuel and English-speaking
Guide
* Three nights under Touareg Tent in our camp on the site of
the Festival + mat + food + mineral water (3 liters/
person/day)
* all other (7) nights in Auberges or Guest room/Hotels and all
meals
* All the touristic taxes, and the fees for tourist visits, eg
museum in Timbuktu

Price does not include

* Festival Entrance Pass
* All the other drinks other than the 3 litres of mineral water
included at Festival.

PS: Nights being very cold in the desert, each person must bring
his / her own suitable warm clothing, eg., fleece jackets, plus
appropriate sleeping bag (to -5 deg)
